Our Costa Rica Missions Team will be serving from August 6–20, and we're excited to invite our Hillside family to follow along, pray with us, and celebrate what God is doing through this opportunity. This trip is about more than travel—it’s about serving communities, building relationships, encouraging local ministry partners, and being the hands and feet of Jesus.
Throughout our time in Costa Rica, the team will be involved in outreach, community ministry, school projects, youth activities, and service opportunities in several different communities. There will also be intentional times of learning, reflection, and team-building as we grow together and seek God's leading.
We would love for you to pray for the team before, during, and after the trip. Pray for safety in travel, strength for the work ahead, meaningful relationships with those we meet, and for God to use this experience to impact both the communities we serve and our own lives as well.
Below is a brief overview of the team's schedule. Please note that details may change as plans develop on the ground.
August 6
The team departs for Costa Rica and travels to Jicotea.
August 7
Team orientation, preparation for ministry, and a time to connect with local leaders.
August 8
Outreach ministry in the communities of Jicotea and Dulce Nombre.
August 9
Morning ministry opportunities followed by outreach in Jama and a chance to visit a local waterfall.
August 10
Service project day at the public school in Jicotea.
August 11
Travel by foot into Tsirbakla for ministry and service opportunities.
August 12
Continued ministry in Tsirbakla before hiking back out.
August 13
School activities, a local cooking class, and a team debrief with ministry leaders.
August 14
Another work day serving the community in Jicotea.
August 15
Community service projects and a youth activity in the afternoon.
August 16
Travel to Perez Zeledon and outreach ministry in Cocori.
August 17
Travel to Quepos followed by a team catamaran excursion and dinner.
August 18
Beach day and team debrief as we reflect on what God has done throughout the trip.
August 19
Travel back to San Jose.
August 20
Return travel home to Canada.
