Do You Have to Audition to Be on the Worship Team?
That’s a great question.
At Hillside, we don’t do auditions because that can make it sound like joining the worship team is about performing, impressing people, and proving your worth to be on the team.
That’s not how we think about worship ministry.
But we do have a process.
So if someone is interested in joining the worship team, the first step is usually a conversation with Pastor Matt. That conversation helps us get to know you, hear about your heart for worship, and talk about what serving on the team looks like.
From there, you are invited to come to worship practice on Saturday mornings. This gives you a chance to meet the team, experience how we prepare together, and gives us a chance to understand where you fit musically.
And musical ability is only part of the conversation.
We want people on the worship team who love Jesus, love the church, and want to help others worship Him.
So, do you have to audition?
No, but there is a process. And that process exists not to keep people out, but to help people serve in the right way, at the right time, with the right heart.
If you’re interested in being part of the worship team, we’d love for you to start by connecting with Pastor Matt. Even if you’re not sure whether you’re ready, the first step can simply be letting us know you’re interested.
If you have a question that you’d like to explore, we’d love to hear from you. Healthy faith makes room for honest questions. And we’re glad to walk that journey together.
